The Lady T-Wolves were able to put up 281 points, and put together some gutsy swims of their own.
200 FREE
Yu Hsuan Chen picked up 2nd place points for Northwood's Open Girls with her time of 2:48.00. Northwood's Open Boys Jonathan Mah led his teammate Brian Fu to a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle. Northwood Open Girls JJ Hopper and Jessica Serrano went 2-3 going 1:22.42 to 1:26.90 in the 100 IM. In the Open Boys battle Northwood freshman Arthur Liu and Beckman's Aviv Zohman challenged each other in the first 50 yards out only five one-hundredths of a second separated them. Liu pulled away in the second half of the race and when it was all said and done stopped the clock with a top time of 1:05.19 over Zohman's (1:08.55).
200 IM
JV Girls Maika Beatrice Marin touched the first wall out in 31.40, with Beckman's Ariana Lee second and teammate Hana Roushdy third. With the breaststroke leg to sort the field, Marin still held onto first 1:56.19 coming into the final wall at 2:35.33 over Lee (2:39.23) and Roushdy (2:42.88). JV Boys freshman Darrel Choi led the 100 out in 1:02.20. At the 150 teammate Kevin Chen drops a 36.13 breaststroke and 30.76 free to pull closer, but finished second (2:13.65) to Choi's 2:12.79 for the win. For the Varsity Girls freshman Julia Gonik sealed the win in the 200 IM with a dominating 2:11.28, over teammate Jenna Morley 2:28.68 staking Northwood with a 1-2 placing. Beckman's Tiffany Chen rounded third in 2:29.48. Northwood Varsity Senior Billy Monjay had a sizable lead going into the breaststroke leg of his 200 IM. If there's one thing you don't want when racing Monjay, it's to be behind after fly and back. Monjay split a 32.92 on the breaststroke and then came home in 1:57.26 over Beckman's Matt Lee (1:57.26). Teammate freshman Hwa Min Sim touched in for third at 2:07.17.
50 Free
The Open Girls led the charge with Yalda Assemi and Cindy Le giving the Timberwolves a 1-3 victory. The Lady T-Wolves ripped in another win from JV junior Sian Davis who putup a 28.52 that just beat out Beckman's Michelle Mukogawa (29.24). Northwood JV Boys were back at it again with a second triple finish from Ryan Lee (23.87), George Peabody (24.12), and Collin Press (24.53). Varsity senior Peter Zhu took the top spot with an exceptionally fast 50 free to win a 22.29 punch to the wall over Beckman's Justin Le (22.42). Touching just behind them in 22.68 was junior Cameron Hsieh rounding third.
50 Fly
The Open Girls once again put two in the top three with Jessica Serrano (39.89) taking second, and Daniela Liaguno Garcia (40.03) combining to add 7 points for Northwood. In the next event Open Boys Yiming Sun got his first individual victory in the 50 fly touching in at 28.51, separated by Beckman's runner-up Skyler Richardson (30.68), and sophomore Luke Balding in for third 30.95.
100 Fly
JV Girls junior Rachel Loye took second going 1:14.07 for a personal best. JV Boys junior Nick O'Neill won the boys fly in 1:01.84, beating out teammate Daniel Paik, who as just a freshman was a 1:02.81 for 2nd. Northwood showed real depth with three finishing in the top three in this race, including junior Esteban Torres in 3rd with a 1:02.90. Varsity Girls Josephine Manuel smashed her second race of the day in as many girls' events, going 1:00.89 to win the 100 fly. Jacquelin Chen joined her earning second with 1:03.86. Varsity senior Peter Zhu, the 100 fly winner, continued his great afternoon with a 54.63. Beckman's Nathan Huot and Northwood's Hwa Min Sim were in a tight race with each other with Huot edging Sim 55.12 to 55.49.
100 Free
Northwood Open Girls sophomore Seren Smith was off her previous season best, but still managed a second place in 1:19.27, and six points earned overall in two individual events for the Timberwolves. In a similar event situation JV Teresa Tran took second, going 31.38 at the 50 before there was a bit of a drop off, though she was still right in the hunt for the second place win (1:05.78). JV Daniel Bae doubled to win the 100 free in 52.68. His teammate Collin Press was third, going 54.08 and closing out a top 3 that left the rest of the field in their dust. Varsity Girls senior Gwen Ung went 1:00.84 for third leading her division. Northwood's Varsity sprinting is looking deep as expected. Freshman Hunter Hitchens tied for the 100 free win in 47.74, against Beckman senior Justin Le who both came out guns-hot in splits of (23.25,24.49) and (23.41, 24.33).
500 Free
In the JV Girls 500 free, Ashley Lee (6:07.82) and Rochelle Child (6:46.91) went 1-2 in showing their top-end talent. Beckman's Chloe Saint Lo took 3rd in 6:50.79. Lee jumped out to an early lead turning 3:03.99 at the 250 mark putting 19.45 seconds distance from Child in accomplishing the win. Behind the strength of two sophomores the Northwood JV Boys had another run of 1-2 success in Kyle Pendleton (5:26.36) and Joseph Shaw (5:37.36) both out touching Beckman's Andrew Hwang (5:39.09). Senior Alyssa Tong (5:33.74) put herself within .63 shy of the Varsity Girls 500 free title against Beckman's Jessica Lambert (5:33.11). Tong's 2nd best 50 split was the very last lap in 31.69 to Lambert's 32.92, but just not enough for the win. Teammate junior Christina Aramayo rounded out third in 5:40.40. The impressive part of the Varsity Boys 500 free race was how dialed in junior Daryl Wang got in his pacing. From the 150-mark to the 450-mark, Wang put each of his splits in the narrow window between 29.06 and 29.70. That's six different 50 splits he posted all within a hundredth of one another for helping him win. Teammate senior Judson Balding finished second in a time of (4:50.87), and sophomore Mack Nesbit clocked in for third at 4:56.77.
50 Back

JV Boys freshman Justin Pyne turned .62 behind at the half way point, but just could not catch Beckman's Sam Yang who powered in a 1:04.11 finish. Pyne posted a time of 1:05.14 for second, and teammate Kevin Wu just behind for third in 1:05.67. Varsity Girls Josephine Manuel who won the 100 fly returned for a second place in the 100 back (1:00.49). Christine Weyers put up a 1:09.91 for third. The Varsity Boys 100 back race was a nail-biter with Daryl Wang turning six one-hundredths of a second ahead of Beckman's Nathan Huot at the half way point, but it was Huot who had the better second half finishing in a time of 56.37. Wang finished second in a time of 56.76, and teammate Nick Thorson rounded third (57.18).
50 Breast
In the Open Girls Emy Kory took a victory by winning the 50 breast (40.29), and her teammate Madison Choi recorded 2nd in 40.57 over Beckman's Amanda To (41.09). Double win for Open Boys sophomore Yiming Sun (34.07) who won the 50 breast event in a battle with teammate freshman Leon Shi (34.30)
